In 2020 the 23rd annual GQ Men of the Year Awards was a virtual presentation. Rather than honouring people in a distinct “awards” section of the issue, the entire MOTY issue will become a celebration of the people who dominated culture and shaped the zeitgeist of 2022.  The GQ MOTY event will be refreshed and elevated to be even more glamorous, star-studded and exclusive. It will now take place in two-parts: an exclusive celebrity dinner, followed by a larger-scale party in an experiential space with 200 people in attendance.

The theme "Light Up!" is inspired by the fact that every MOTY winner brings light or sparks inspiration in their own unique way.
